Lead Pastor
Rev. Sean Wan
Personal Introduction
More than two decades ago, he began his professional journey as a consultant, navigating between analysis and strategy and addressing complex business challenges with data and models. Yet behind many seemingly perfect solutions, he gradually came to recognize—through the eyes of his Christian faith—that the deepest longings and struggles of the human heart cannot be fully answered by logic or analytics alone. He became increasingly convinced that the greatest lack in our time is not a shortage of capital, technology, management tools, or talent, but a deeper emptiness in the human heart caused by not knowing God.
Out of this growing conviction, he began to reevaluate the direction of his life.
In an act of obedience, he stepped away from his familiar career path and moved to the United States in 2015 to pursue theological training at Logos Evangelical Seminary, where he earned his Master of Divinity (M.Div.) in 2018. Those years were not merely a season of academic study, but a time of spiritual formation—of being shaped, renewed, and strengthened in his calling. It was a journey from self-reliance to learning to depend fully on God’s guidance.
Following his graduation, he was led into ministry. In January 2019, he began serving as a minister at Irvine First Chinese Baptist Church, and in 2024, he was ordained as a pastor. In this role, he participates in God’s greater story—bringing hope and comfort into human brokenness and bearing witness, in an anxious age, to the truth that brings true peace.
Throughout this journey, he has not walked alone. Together with his wife, who shares in the same calling, they support one another in ministry while raising a daughter and a son. In the rhythms of work, study, ministry, and family life, a clear thread emerges: this is not merely his own story being written, but God’s story unfolding—through him, through the church he serves, and through many faithful brothers and sisters who love and follow the Lord.
