Church History
In 1976, Pastor Lin Chih-Sheng and his wife, led by the Lord, came to the United States from Hong Kong. At that time, seeing the rapid growth of the Chinese immigrant population in Orange County and the urgent need for gospel outreach, they consulted with Dr. George Downing, President of the American Baptist Churches’ Pacific Conference, and received strong support from Pastor Charles Garranger of First Baptist Church of Garden Grove. On March 6 of the same year, the First Chinese Baptist Church was established, officially beginning its gospel ministry.
In 1978, the church relocated from Garden Grove to Fountain Valley, where it shared facilities with a local Baptist church. During this time, a building committee was formed to plan for a permanent church home.
In 1979, the church was officially registered with the State of California as a non-profit religious organization.
On August 15, 1985, the new church building in Irvine was completed and dedicated. Since then, the church has gathered at this location and was officially named Irvine First Chinese Baptist Church (IFCBC).
Over the past forty years, the church has experienced God’s abundant grace in Irvine. Various ministries have been established, including Sunday School, Bible studies, and small groups. We warmly invite you to join our services, grow in your knowledge of God, and journey together in faith.
Our Beliefs
1. God The Father
God the Father is almighty—the Creator of the universe and all humanity. He gives life to all living things and is the one and only unchanging true God.
2. Jesus Christ the Son
Jesus Christ, the Son, is equal with the Father. He is the Word made flesh, born of the virgin Mary, full of grace and truth, and lived among us. He died for our sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day. He ascended into heaven and now sits at the right hand of the Father, interceding for us. One day, He will return to bring His people to be with Him and will judge the world.
3. The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son. He was sent after Jesus’ ascension at Pentecost and now dwells in every believer who accepts Jesus Christ as personal Savior. He is the assurance of our salvation.
4. The Bible
The Bible, consisting of the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, is without error in its original manuscripts and is fully inspired by the Holy Spirit.
5. Humanity
According to the will of the Triune God (Genesis 1:26–27), all people are created by God in His image. After Adam’s fall into sin, the only way to eternal life is through repentance and faith in the redemptive work of Jesus Christ. Those who do not believe in Jesus Christ as their personal Savior will not receive eternal life but remain under God’s judgment.
6. The Church
The Church is the body of Christ, with Jesus Christ as its head. Believers gather regularly to worship the one true God. When Jesus Christ returns, the Church will be taken up into glory.
